The larger sizes (97 US gallon with non-recessed HotFox, 85 gallon with recessed and concealed HotFox) will fit most domestic long-bed pickups - Ford 6.9 and 7.3 pre-Powerstroke, Ford Powerstrokes, Dodge Cummins 12-valve and 24-valve, Chevy/GMC 6.2, 6.5 and Duramax. Double-check your truck before ordering! Dimensions are 59" left-right, 20 front-back and 19" high.

The smaller sizes (48 US gallon with non-recessed HotFox, 43 US gallon with recessed and concealed Hotfox) will fit all of the above long bed trucks plus the short-bed versions of the above trucks, but be sure to double-check your truck before ordering! Dimensions are 58-1/2" left-right x 11-1/2" front-rear x 19" high.

The recessed-and-concealed HotFox models (see the Photo Gallery, then Aluminum Tanks) conceal and protect the HotFox, it's hoses, and the fuel level sender under a removable cover that slides rearward and off should you need to access either the 'Fox or the sender.)

The truck tanks are constructed of 3/16" 5052-H32 aluminum, TIG welded. They are internally baffled, for anti-sloshing/prevention of fuel starvation when cornering or in off-camber situations, and the baffles are also 3/16" 5052 aluminum. The baffles also serve as structural ribs - preventing the long sides of the tanks from "oil-caning" as well as taking stress off the perimeter welds.

Additionally, the tanks are not constructed of the usual 6 sheets, but rather of only two C-shaped sections - one piece that's bent to become the bottom, front and back, and a 2nd that's bent to form the top and two ends. This construction results in a stronger tank.

All tanks are supplied with a tube-type fuel level sender - we've found that float-arm type fuel level senders fail in time in a WVO application. All tanks are supplied with 1 -brass 3/8" NPT (National Pipe Thread) X 3/8" hosebarb fitting for fuel return. The HotFox coolant-fuel heat exchanger/heated fuel pickup is your fuel supply/fuel out from the tank. (Each HotFox is supplied with 3- 1/2" NPT female ports - one is coolant in, another is coolant out, and the third is fuel out.)

All tanks are provided with a brass 3/8" NPT x 3/8" hose barb fitting, for a tank vent. Generally, best practice is to run a hose from our tank that T's into the stock diesel tank's vent line near where that vent line T's into the stock rubber fuel filler hose. If this is difficult or impossible, we sell one-way check valves that can be plumbed into your WVO tank's vent line to prevent fuel spillage from the vent hose.

Each tank is shipped with a large removable aluminum inspection plate/hatch in the top, in the even the tank needs cleaning. All tanks are provided with a polished stainless steel marine-type fuel filler with a removable fuel filler cap that requires a special (provided) key that discourages tampering with your fuel

The truck tanks are shipped with galvanized mounting straps with 1/2" machine bolts tack-welded onto the straps, and stainless Nyloc nuts. The straps are not attached to the tank, so that you can position them to clear anything under the bed of the truck that would be in the way.

The Pivot Tank pivots on a single piece of 1/2" threaded rod, and swings away from the first aid kit/jack compartment, to allow access to those. It clears the third seat well, and can be used with the 3rd seat. We supply a new latch plate for the right side of the rear door/station wagon hatch, with a 1/2" threaded stud that accepts a wing nut - this is unscrewed to allow the tank to swing aside to access to the first-aid kit and jack. The HotFox is on the right side of the tank, and the head of the HotFox swings into the first-aid kit/jack cubby, and thus is both not seen when the tank is "parked." This also protects the coolant and fuel supply hoses from shifting cargo and/or the hands of children in the 3rd seat.

The Pivot Tank is supplied with a large Lexan porthole, to allow you to see the fuel level as you're filling the tank. All tanks are provided with a polished stainless steel marine-type fuel filler with a spring-loaded recessed handle that pops up when you press it, and allows you to unscrew the fill cap.

The VW Tdi Donut Tanks - Buy it NOW

Constructed of 3/16" 5052-H32 aluminum. It fits inside the steel wheel of your spare tire - your spare stays in the stock location, with the Donut Tank inside it. Offered in two sizes - a 2 gallon model that fits inside the stock steel wheel, and a larger model, approx. 5 gallons, that fits into an after market 18" wheel/low profile tire. If you'd like the larger 5 gallon tank, you must either contact me for purchasing info for the wheels we've made tanks for, or, if you're interested in a wheel that we've never made a tank for, you must ship the wheel (not the wheel-and-tire, just the wheel) to me in Berkeley.

Even though the fuel capacity of both is small, the fact that you're using them for start-stop fuel (diesel or biodiesel) in a VW Tdi, with it's anorexic fuel consumption and with our system, with the Vegtherm, which allows you to switch to WVO within a minute or two of startup, means that your 2 or 5 gallons will last a long time. Most customers report the 2 gallon donut tank will only need filling about every 1200 miles. The Donut Tanks do not have a fuel level sender so you must check the fuel level visually. The safest procedure is to fill them every time you fill your stock tank.

We suggest that you plumb the donut tank with enough hose - fuel supply, fuel return, and vent - so that you can lift the tank out of the car and set it on the ground for filling, to avoid fuel spills inside your trunk or rear cargo area, especially if you're not planning on running biodiesel as your start-stop fuel.

All tanks are provided with a brass 3/8" NPT x 3/8" hose barb fitting, for a tank vent.
